A day to remember

Today is our dad’s birthday. He would have been 70 years old.

When people say losing someone gets easier with time, they are wrong. It doesn’t get easier, it just gets different. We lost our dad on June 13, 2014 to his fight with cancer.

He was the definition of strength, courage, and optimism throughout not only his fight with cancer but life in general. He exuded unquestioning love and support to my mum, family and friends. He never ever gave up no matter how many times the doctors said this is it. They gave him 2 years, he lived 7. He fought like hell until he took his last breath as he was surrounded by his family.

The ocean is the home to where my dads ashes were spread. What better way to celebrate his life than to bring some flowers to the sea and take it all in. It was rainy, dark and stormy but somehow incredibly peaceful. There wasn’t a single soul on the beach but us. We sat in silence as the rain came down from the sky and watched the white and red flowers wash out to sea.

Happy Birthday Dad. Surfs up Kiwi.

Cheers,

K||C

    Girls, this is so beautiful! I can just imagine you both on the beach, in the rain and just being near him. I am a blessed mom, knowing you loved your dad and your family so much! We are blessed!
