A Weekend Getaway to Beaufort, SC

Just a short hour & a half drive south of Charleston is Beaufort, SC. The most quaint & beautiful little town we ever did see. This town is loaded with history, beauty & another level of southern charm. We were invited down to explore the town & everything it has to offer! Here is a breakdown of our stay & everything we recommend!

Where to stay

The Beaufort Inn

The Beaufort Inn

Where do we even begin with this gorgeous Inn? This charming B&B is surrounded by local shops, restaurants, galleries, and just blocks from the beautiful water front. Our favorite part was the location of the Inn, right in the heart of downtown, walking distance to everything!

We felt like we took a step back in time when we entered the main house. The house is filled with history & the decor really plays on the southern feel of the town. The hospitality and service was amazing, even the owner Jonathan took us on a small tour of the property and shared stories about the history of the Inn.

We lucked out and the dates we came into town was their Holiday Celebration weekend, and lets just say we felt the Holiday spirit in the air. The Inn had hot a coco & apple cider set up , fire pits were going along with s’mores to roast, a station for the kids to write their letter to Santa, as well a chance to get photos with the big man himself. The main street in the town was block off with bands playing, activities for the kids, food stands and more.

Where to Eat

This was our first stop of the day & it did not disappoint. Walking in you immediately know this is a local’s spot & a town favorite. This place serves up classic breakfast & lunch meals diner style. The perfect spot for a homey meal!

Could hardly contain our excitement when walking into this gorgeous green & white tiled market. This spot came highly recommended by all & we can surely see why. We ended up having a 2-hour lunch here, taking our time, looking through all of the local products for sale & savoring our delicious fried chicken sandwiches & freshly made donuts! Healthy right?! I guess that’s what vacation is for 🙂  This is most definitely a MUST when visiting Beaufort!!

We actually had plans to go to Saltus River Grill for dinner this night, but they were booked solid the entire night. It ended up working out because we stumbled upon this gem of a place! We were pleasantly surprised with not only the decor & atmosphere but the food as well. Delicious wood fired pizzas & a light arugula salad hit the spot.

Things to do

  • Shop on Bay Street

Bay street is the main street of downtown Beaufort & is lined with tons of local shops. Everything from home decor & art, to chocolate shops & ice cream. We spent a lot of time exploring each shop & doing a little holiday shopping. If you can swing it, come down during the Holidays because the decor & holiday spirit around the town is truly out of a Christmas movie.

  • Walk around & check out C. Chambers Waterfront Park

Grab a seat on one of their swinging benches overlooking the water & take in the beautiful scenery. This was the perfect spot to sit & relax after lunch! Also make sure to bring a football or a frizbee to throw in the park for a little fun with the family!

The perfect spot to sit ( or swing) with a cup of coffee & try to spot some dolphins!

If yall are looking for an easy, fun & charming getaway, Beaufort is your place. It would be perfect for families or even a couple looking to have a few romantic days together.

Even though we only spent two nights here, it was so easy to fall in love with this sweet & charming place. We can’t wait to come back to visit!

Thank you so much to Visit Beaufort for having us down for a wonderful weekend.

Cheers,

K&C
