Hey, all you beautiful KC Doubletake subscribers!
When I was asked to do a guest post for KC_Doubletake I wanted to boil it down to one of the most important characteristics necessary for ultimate success. Confidence. Confidence will take you far above and beyond your wildest dreams. I’m talking about the courageous, empowered, confident woman who know’s that she can do anything she puts her mind to and goes after what she really wants. When you stand strong and grounded in who you are, what you are doing, and truly believe in yourself you will be unstoppable. I picked three of the most important things that we can do right this very second to be more confident.
To start off, I want to first tell you that these tools really work. But they only work if you put them into action and work on them every.single.day. It takes the same about of energy to encourage and uplift yourself as it does to say you look fat. So stop telling yourself you are fat, ugly or not enough. Because you are more than enough. And in fact, you are AMAZING.
If you want to radically change your life this very moment then you need to do the following starting today.
#1 STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO OTHERS IMMEDIATELY.
And yes I do mean immediately. Social Media is an instant killer of confidence by comparing to other people’s lives, bodies, jobs, friends, etc. It is important to remember when you are scrolling down Instagram, Facebook, or different Blogs looking at women in bikinis with perfectly sculpted abs, wearing beautiful clothes that seem beyond your price range, or people who live in perfectly decorated houses, that their lives aren’t perfect either. And it should absolutely not make you feel any less of an awesome person to be where you are on your own personal journey. Here is the secret- lean in because it is important… they don’t have what only YOU have! Only YOU have that unique special something you were born with and no one else will ever have that same exact special something. Social media can make you feel poor, ugly, not enough, not thin enough, not fun or adventurous enough, not creative enough etc. SO STOP COMPARING YOURSELF TO ANYONE ON SOCIAL MEDIA.
You, my sister, were created to be awesome and unique. THERE IS ONLY ONE OF YOU IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. THERE WILL ONLY BE ONE OF YOU TO EVER EXIST! YOU ARE HANDMADE AND ONE OF A KIND. Comparison causes us to crumble into a million pieces. So shred it up and get it out of your life right now.
#2. BE CONSCIOUS OF THE THOUGHTS YOU REPEATEDLY SAY TO YOURSELF
Girls, how often are you conscious of the things you say to yourself? Is it more natural to pick yourself apart or build yourself up? Is it a habit to look in the mirror and say “ew, I hate my thighs” or “damn, I look great today!” How often do we say, “Wow, I love my eyes.” Be aware of how you talk to yourself.
If you don’t know how to start, think about how you talk to you best friend, sister, mother, etc. Would you tell them the things you tell yourself? For example, “I love your outfit today” or “You are doing a great job today, I am so proud of you”. Or do you say to yourself “you aren’t smart enough” or “You look hideous today”? GIRLFRIENDS START NOTICING HOW YOU TALK TO YOURSELF. WHAT YOU REPEATEDLY SAY TO YOURSELF IS WHO YOU REPEATEDLY BECOME. SO START BECOMING AWESOME BY TALKING TO YOURSELF AS AN AWESOME GIRL.
#3. HAVE SOME GRATITUDE
Gratitude changes lives guys. When you wake up and you are sipping on your delicious coffee, before you jump on your phone and get sucked into e-mail, text’s & social media, focus on three things you are incredibly thankful for. Being thankful takes you to the present moment. When you are present you aren’t anxious about the future or depressed about the past. Gratitude changes lives by being thankful for exactly what you have now in this present moment. When we are focused on what we have now, not what we don’t have, it radically changes your life. PS. if you don’t like yourself now with what you have, you will still feel like you aren’t enough when you get to where you think you are supposed to be, whether it’s a different state, job or weight.
There is this exercise I learned called a gratitude explosion. Think of something you love. For example, the shirt that you are wearing. Then think of the designers who first conceptualized the shirt and be thankful for them. Then think about all of the beautiful dyes that went into creating the perfect color of your shirt. Think about how the cotton grew and be thankful for how it was picked and then spun. Be thankful that you have a shirt to wear in the first place and that you have the ability to afford a shirt. When you start thinking about all of the steps that go into creating one item you cherish, your appreciation and happiness will skyrocket. You can go on and on and on with any item you choose.
I could write a whole book about gratitude and how to be thankful for every aspect of our lives. When we open our eyes to gratitude we adopt a whole new attitude. We start seeing positives in EVERYTHING. Every experience has more meaning. Your life has more meaning. Be thankful for the coffee you get to enjoy, the couch you get to sit on, the breakfast you get to eat. When everything becomes a privilege your life has a meaning. Most of you reading this live in America or are blessed enough to have a computer or cell phone to read this on. MOST of the world doesn’t have that opportunity. We are blessed. The more we say THANK YOU to our creator/universe/ your guiding light the HAPPIER WE ARE.
LASTLY, REMEMBER LIFE IS HAPPENING FOR YOU, NOT TO YOU!
The quicker you get this etched into your brain the happier you become. When you think only bad things happen to you then they probably do because you cut off the possibilities of seeing the good. But when you know that God, the universe, energy whatever that guiding light is for you that is guiding your life has a plan for YOU and for the GOOD of your life, it will instantly change for the better. You will feel less alone, more loved and CONFIDENT.
Cheers girls, & know that every day you are loved. Every day your life has a purpose. And every day you have a choice to be happy.
